Feilding High Advance To Top 4, While Wellington Win 2 From 2
In another eventful weekend of Hurricanes Youth Rugby Council rugby played throughout the region, top billing in terms of results goes to Feilding High School who defeated defending Hurricanes Boys Champions, Palmerston North Boys’ High School to advance to the National Top Four Secondary School Finals next week. After trailing PNBHS by 11 points at half-time following two converted tries in the first half to the defending champions, Feilding scored two tries of their own to snatch victory by a single point.

Meanwhile, in the Central Region Shield, defending champions Wellington secured their second win of the 2024 competition, defeating Hawkes Bay by 22 points to 10, after trailing by 7 points to 5 at half-time.
In the other competition fixture, originally scheduled to be played in Palmerston North but transferred to Pahiatua, Manawatu kept the Hurricanes Heartland Under 20 team scoreless, taking a 19 points to nil half-time lead then racing away to a full-time score of 31 points to nil. Manawatu will need to defeat Hawkes Bay next weekend to have any chance of winning the Shield, also relying on the Hurricanes Heartland side to beat Wellington.
