Hawkes Bay Win 2024 Under 18 Girls Tournament In Napier
Hawkes Bay capped off a successful week of age group representative rugby, with the Hawkes Bay Under 18 Girls team comprehensively defeating Manawatu in the Under 18 Girls Tournament Final by 22 points to 5 at Napier Boys High School earlier today.
In the semi-final matches, Hawkes Bay prevailed over Whanganui by 15 points to 5, while the Wellington Centurions drew 12 points all with Manawatu. As Manawatu scored first in the match, they progressed to the final against Hawkes Bay.
As part of the Tournament, a MVP was selected for each team, with the overall Tournament MVP award being made to Trilaine Suitauloa, (Wellington Centurions). Other team MVPs were: Georgie Beaufoy, (Hawkes Bay RFU); Kearney Matenga, (Manawatu RFU); and Lasaini Aleke, (Whanganui RFU).
The Overall Sportsperson of the Tournament was Acacia Kingi-Te Koari, (Whanganui RFU).

The Council would like to thank Tournament Director Kahurangi Sturmey, with the impressive support of Teilah Ferguson and Rangimarie Sturmey, for organising a successful and enjoyable experience for all participants. With thanks also to the Hurricanes Poua team for assisting in the training and development sessions which were of great benefit to all.
