Poverty Bay Under 20 Team Aims High In 2019 Series
The Poverty Bay Under 20 team is looking forward to the challenge of the Under 20 Development Series which kicks-off this weekend in Gisborne and Masterton.
In their first round match, Poverty Bay play 2018 Champions Horowhenua-Kapiti at Gisborne's Rugby Park, while Wairarapa-Bush host Wanganui in Masterton.
The Gisborne Herald reports that "one of the coaches for Poverty Bay, David McDonald, said the squad was picked from a trial match in June and he also cast his eye over the union’s club competition. The players had been training well and competition for places in the team was heating up. “They’re coming along pretty well, really,” McDonald said. Ngatapa openside flanker Chase Sheridan has been named captain, with most of the players drawn from Poverty Bay rugby’s Senior 1 competition."
