Round 2 Blockbuster On The Cards In Central Region Shield
Results from Round 1 of the 40th competition for the Central Region Shield indicate a blockbuster match between the two leading teams in Round 2 next Saturday.
Today in Wellington, at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport, a ruck-and-run Wellington team sprung to a 31 points to 7 lead over the Hurricanes Heartland Under 20 team at half-time, to press on and win the match by 50 points to 12. You can read Club Rugby’s match report, here.
At Tremain Field in Napier, Hawkes Bay had no problem in dispatching Manawatu by 45 points to 0.
The top teams after Round 1 (Wellington and Hawkes Bay) meet in Wellington next weekend, in a match which is likely to determine who wins the Central Region Shield in 2023.
