Trustbank Secondary School Shield Kicks-Off Around The Region
Round 1 of the Trustbank Secondary School Shield was played across the Hurricanes region yesterday, with eight teams competing in two pools of four.
In Tolaga Bay at the Uawa Rugby Club, the Centurions RFC side from Wellington over-powered the East Coast RFU Under 18 team, by 80 points to 0 after leading 39 to 0 at half-time.

In Gisborne the defending Trustbank Secondary School Shield champions, Wellington Samoan RFU side defeated Poverty Bay by 33 points to 5.

Meanwhile at Memorial Park in Masterton, hosts Wairarapa-Bush fought out a 20 points draw with Wanganui, while in the match played in Wellington, the newly formed Wellington Catholic Colleges defeated Horowhena-Kapiti by 31 points to 24.

Next week’s Round 2 games will be played in Wanganui, Paraparaumu and Wellington. East Coast and Wellington Catholic Colleges will not play next weekend, but will have a catch-up game in Levin on Thursday, 14 September.
